J.B. Barton & Co. is a genre-bending Americana outfit rooted in California soil and shaped by a wide musical horizon. Fronted by singer-songwriter J.B. Barton, the band blends country, folk, blues, rock, and jazz into a sound that feels both timeless and distinctly modern. Raised across Southern California, Humboldt County, and Oakland—and now based in Sacramento—Barton brings a road-worn West Coast perspective to songs driven by vivid storytelling and soulful melody.

Barton has shared stages with influential artists including David Grisman, Sam Bush, Greensky Bluegrass, and The Devil Makes Three, and has been a longtime contributor to respected projects such as Ol’ Silver Tongue, Bucky Walters, T Sisters, and Brothers Comatose. His songwriting draws inspiration from icons like Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and Bob Dylan, filtered through a contemporary Americana lens.

The band features an exceptional cast of musicians:

  • Tim Bulkley (drums) brings decades of experience and deep musical intuition, shaped by early exposure to jazz and a lifetime of performing across genres. He appears on 60+ recordings and remains a sought-after collaborator.

  • Nate Furgason (bass) began playing jazz at age ten, earned degrees from CSU Chico and NYU, and has performed with award-winning ensembles including the Chico Jazz Collective. His playing anchors the band with finesse and groove.

  • Connie Rottier-Thompson (keys) is an award-winning jazz and classical pianist whose musical range spans punk, jazz, country, and beyond. She is also an active educator and community organizer in Sacramento’s music and queer communities.

  • Aundrea Schindler (vocals) brings a rich classical foundation and luminous harmony work, having performed with the SF Choral Society for seven years and appeared as a featured soprano in the documentary Shining Night: A Portrait of Composer Morten Lauridsen. She has contributed vocal arranging and harmonies to multiple albums over the past decade.

  • Willie Condrey (drums/percussion) rounds out the rhythm section with song-first sensibility, dynamic touch, and deep roots in folk-adjacent rock and country, alongside a passion for teaching and musical connection.

J.B. Barton & Co.’s debut full-length album, The Always Friendly Outlaw, marks a bold entry into the Americana landscape—equal parts grit, heart, and musicianship. Known for compelling live performances and a genuine sense of musical community, the band invites listeners into a sound that honors tradition while pushing it forward. Following the album, Barton will release songs from the Carrizozo EP as a series of singles throughout 2026, further showcasing his eclectic taste, dynamic musical influences, and genre-spanning approach to songwriting.

"As I’m sitting here on Halloween Day 2023 listening to JB Barton’s “Halloween New Orleans” from his new album release, All I Ever Wanted, I’m half way through a third listening of his collection of original songs. By now, hook, line and sinker, I’m mesmerized with his silky smooth tenor voice and his ability to write effectively all around an idea with popular appeal, sincerity and depth...all in the same breath.

JB Barton’s broadband of roots music is impressively wide and deep. From music of the Caribbean, to Cajun to California Country and beyond…his knowledge and love of cultural diversity comes through, even in this decidedly Country inspired release. The album deserves your attention and, as it might find itself in rapid rotation in your playlist, I have found the freshness of JB’s artistry is, at least for now, All I Ever Wanted."

"JB Barton is the real deal.  He is authentic and rooted in tradition, but innovates just enough to make this music his own.  JB's music continues to make Southern California proud. I can't wait to see the success of this album."

"This album is hard to listen to…..without tapping your toes or shaking your ass.

Infectious rhythms that WILL FILL the dance floors. When JB sings about a “short bed Chevy” I do believe that he knows the correct spark plug gap for a 283 Chevy.  (.035)

I don’t know if JB is a coonass or not…..but he sure sounds like one to me, and I like that."
